Hire an out of work computer technician to make that decision for you.

My current work environment consists of Windows XP Professional, Windows 2003 Server .NET, Windows 2000 Advanced Server, and Windows eCommerce Server with SQL Server 2000. I have had no problem and have always used Microsoft products. As long as you install the updates when they are released you should have no problem.

The majority of problems people face with Windows XP are conflicts with legacy programs and drivers. This can easily be avoided by ensuring all of your programs and drivers are compatible with Windows 2000/XP.

Personally, I have been using Microsft's OS for 10+years now with no hiccups. Any OS you use requires you to ensure that all the latest updates and security patches are installed. Even Linux releases updates and patches to their system as well
